DG was my day 1 at Pepperdine. I was moved into my dorm by former president & now big, @leheydt along with a really fantastic friend @haley.miller. In one of my most bittersweet moments, they were supportive, authentic and so kind. I was steadfast on DG from that moment!

DG has pretty much been my why throughout my 4 years at Pepperdine.

When I think about walking across the stage in our pretty pink stoles I cannot help but reminisce on all that DG has given me. A Greek family that is to die for. The best of friends that have lead me through heart ache of all kinds. The CONFIDENCE to lead in any space as a graceful but tenacious woman. And a lifelong pride of forever being a Delta Gamma. I look forward to doing good for the rest of life!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you deeg, for being my why.

The first word that comes to my mind when I think of DG is GENUINE. I was stunned by the genuine love and care that I saw within the Delta Gamma chapter even from my first day of recruitment. Finding my place in Pepperdine was so much easier and more fun with the support that I felt from my older sisters and the girls in my PC. Now that these girls have become my sisters, I love watching the ways that each of them do so much good. I am inspired by the character, love, hard work, and fun that shines through the girls in DG. I couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of this sisterhood and I can’t wait to be back in Malibu with my best friends!

“Going through recruitment first semester was scary at first because I had no idea what to expect. However, as soon as I went into DG on open house I knew I found my home. I love everything about everyone in our chapter and I have found so much comfort in my sisters. My best-friends are always all around me. Dg has made Pepperdine feel like home. I can’t imagine it without them. There isn’t a single non genuine individual in the chapter, always willing to led a hand when you need help. I love my sisters and would not trade them for anything.”

This Sunday we celebrated 152 years of the Do Good Sisterhood! Delta Gamma was founded in 1873 at Lewis School in Oxford, Mississippi by Anna, Eva and Mary. Forever grateful to be a part of this amazing group of women! Thank you Taverna Tony’s for hosting!

Lucy is a senior Economics major from Baltimore. She is Vice-President of the Women in Business Club and Director of Operations for College Republicans. She has been involved with Intramural Soccer, and participated in the Florence Program and the D.C. Program. She previously interned for the Majority Whip in Washington, D.C.

Lucy: “Graduating a year early, I was nervous about returning from abroad and finishing school alongside a group of girls I hadn’t fully gotten to know during my freshman year. But that uncertainty turned out to be such a blessing.

My DG sisters made both my transition back to campus and my transition into the future so much easier and sweeter. I came back to an instant sense of belonging.

What I’ve loved most about DG is that I can talk to any girl in the chapter and walk away inspired. I’m constantly in awe of the kindness, ambition, humility, and individuality that each of my sisters bring.

I am so grateful to be a DG and to have shared my college experience with women I adore and look up to. There is never a dull moment walking into chapter, and I always find myself smiling whenever I see my sisters on or off campus.”

Same time, next year?

As we reach the end of Black History Month, we wanted to spotlight two important leaders within our chapter Eta Alpha: Nicole Brown (MC’ 98) and Shalom Montgomery (MC ‘24) 🤍

Nicole is the first black initiate into Eta Alpha. From there, she served as the second black Panhellenic President. Shalom is the first black chapter president for Eta Alpha.

Our #SAILORSISTERSUNDAY is @keiraakim! Keira is a current sophomore from Phoenix, AZ and was recently elected as VP Panhellenic for our chapter! Majoring in Biology on the Pre-Med track, Keira is currently doing STEM education and Alzheimers research with Pepperdine professors. Outside of the classroom, Keira volunteers at Kaiser Woodland Hills in the Oncology departments and is a member of the Pre-Med Club.

Lover of all things fitness, film, and fun, Keira is a steady joyful light within in our chapter. She always lifts up her sisters, always has a beautiful smile on campus and has an amazing work ethic. WE LOVE YOU KEIRA!

Keira:
“The best way I can put it is that Delta Gamma wasn’t just something I always wanted, it gave me things I never even knew I needed.

I remember leaving preference round so clearly and asking myself, in four years, when it’s time for me to graduate, who are the women I want to be just like. I remembered talking to Mercer for the first time and feeling so genuinely seen. I remembered telling my RA Monte, “I just want to be in whatever sorority you’re in.” In admiration of her bubbly, kind hearted, and caring soul. I remembered talking with my big Hana for hours at meet the chapters, the smile that I had on my face when seeing her during sisterhood, the tears I cried to her in the pref room, and the completeness I felt getting to see her hold my sign on bid day.

Being in DG, I’ve slowly become more of the woman I’ve always wanted to be without even realizing it. You really are who you surround yourself with, and all the qualities I admired so much in the older DGs my freshman year are the same ones shaping me now.

I’m proud to say Delta Gamma, to me, has remained the most genuine, intentional, kind-hearted, and coolest group of women I have ever known. The girls freshman year me looked up to so much during recruitment have stayed exactly who I hoped they were and more”

big/ little duo EMMA & JOLIE

Emma: “My sweet Jojo ✨😊 We met through Jena, Jolie’s sister, and I knew Jolie was also Montenegrin (insane & SO rare) which that alone made it an instant connection. But our friendship quickly became so much deeper than shared roots. Jolie isn’t just my little; she’s my best friend and my sister. We’ve gone from TJ Maxx dates to eating gelato in Italy, cliff jumping together in Greece, and celebrating my sister’s wedding in Montenegro. She’s the kind of person who will switch into my uncomfortable heels while walking on cobblestone streets in Europe just so I don’t have to be in pain. She’s also the kind of person who gets more excited about your accomplishments than you do yourself. Our friendship started because of DG, but it turned into something lifelong. Being her big has been one of the greatest gifts (& my biggest pull🤣). I’m so grateful to have a sister to celebrate both the smallest moments and the biggest milestones with ⭐️💕”

Jolie: “My mommy, my best friend, and my partner in crime 👯‍♀️😉🤭 Jena really does know best, because she said there is no one better to be my big than Emma!! Us both being Montenegrin is just the cherry on top of our relationship 🍒 If you know Emma, then you know she is the BEST person to hang out with ever. From watching Malibu sunsets to dancing on tables in Greece, she is down for anything and everything, truly the brightest light in life. She’s the one I call for advice on everything, whether it’s texting a boy, making the hardest decision ever (picking an outfit), or deciding whether or not to go abroad! Thankfully, she convinced me to spend the summer in Italy hehehe. Living with my best friend in Florence, Italy… like, ARE YOU JOKING?! It was genuinely a dream come true and something I couldn’t have imagined with anyone else. From traveling to all of our dream destinations on the craziest side quests, to spending time with each other’s families in Montenegro, every moment was unforgettable because of her. Emma, you have truly become my sister beyond DG. Although I know we would’ve been best friends regardless, I’m so grateful DG made you my mommy. I love you the most ❤️”

“Estela, Madison, Vivy, Petra, and Audrey— I love them so much! I’m beyond thankful for the ways abroad has turned my sisters into lifelong friends. Our chapter has some of the coolest girls out there and I was practically jumping for the opportunity to get to know them deeper. Being abroad together has put us in the perfect situation to really lean on one another. These girls have truly been with me through the ups and downs. They make every day a good day and I’m just so thankful I can walk to class with them every day and share a few laughs. We have so many adventures ahead and honestly, I think DG played a huge part in bringing us all together. Sending our love. We’ll be here in Switzerland.

IT’S OFFICIAL!

This weekend, we initiated 35 girls into our Eta Alpha chapter of Delta Gamma… and it could not feel more complete! We feel so inspired by this group of young women and look forward to all that they will accomplish at Pepperdine and in DG.

Huge shoutout to @cupcakebrownielover & @julia.ryan for leading a wonderfully inspiring new member education period. You ladies rock! & to president, @kelsramsey for leading them so well.

Message from the President:

There is no home like Delta Gamma. The instant comfort, peace, and joy that washed over me when I met the women of DG during recruitment was all I needed to know that I’ve found my place. Coming from out of state, I understand exactly how hard it is to leave your nearby community. Yet DG has shown me everyday that love is all around us. The anchor is beyond just a symbol, but a way of life. My sisters are constantly showing me what it looks like to be motivated, stand firm on your values, and to love others. Our values shine through our excitement for our philanthropy, sisterhood, and our Pepperdine community. It is such a privilege to belong to a sisterhood that leads with love and joy.

Being President is not a position I take lightly; many have come before me to make this chapter the amazing one that is. I am beyond humbled to lead alongside the highest class of women, and have fun doing it!
